Educational Psychology

I have always had a heart for the effective raising of our children. It is the legacy of this generation to invest in the peoples of the future. To do that, it is important that we ensure that our children, like trees, are given the good ground in which to grow their anchoring roots, the healthy boundaries to protect them from harm, and the freedom to spread their exploring wings.

As an educational psychologist I offer my services in the fields of full assessments in order to determine learning problems, subject choices, and career paths.teddy

Our children are exposed to a multitude of confusing, damaging and often debilitating events at home, at school and in the broader community of our society. I view it as a privilege to provide guidance to parents to navigate their children through this turbulent time and also to provide individual therapy to children exploring the dynamics of their emotional hurts and woundedness.

I am currently employed by the Western Cape Education Department to provide services to children with severe to profound intellectual disabilities. This is a very unknown part of our population who have the constitutional right to education and learning.

Another field that is gaining tremendous momentum is the growing numberĀ of people realizing that they are living with behaviours classified under the umbrella term of autism spectrum disorder. These mostly and greatly misunderstood individuals suffer the ridicule of ignorance and it is a privilege for me to assist in educating society towards inclusive models of education and understanding.
